My trip to Camp Abilities Alaska was definitely unique and my local paper decided to do a story about it. Check it out http://www.newbritainherald.com/articles/2011/08/02/news/doc4e38a6140a867526258681.txt

Hi Everybody,
I just got back from Camp Abilities Alaska 2011. It was truly an amazing experience! I first have to complement Alplne Alternatives and our extraordinary staff and volunteers we had this year. It really is an amazing program. The experience was so rewarding that I feel that I should have a presence next year as I felt that I added a lot to the program and feel that next year I could add so much more. That being said, I am starting to ask for donations for next years trip to Alaska and would really appreciate your donations. My goal this year is $650 for my flights and expenses and I could really use everyone's help. Thanks again to everybody who donated. Talk soon. My flights are booked but if you are still looking to donate, you can visit my friend's website: http://headedtocaa.weebly.com/index.html to help her get to Camp Abilities Alaska. I have worked closely with this person over the past year and her aspirations and goals are very similar to mine. It would be great if she could go to CA Alaska this year as well so I encourage you to visit and donate! Thanks
I have booked my flights to go to Camp Abilities. I would like to thank everyone for their generous support and contribution to my trip. I am still accepting donations but I would put them to my trip next year. Again thanks to everyone for their continuous support and I will keep you up to date as Camp Abilities draws close.
As you can probably predict from the title, I am so close to booking my flights. Thanks to some very generous donations mentioned in my last blog, I am now only weeks from buying my ticket. I only need no more than $50-100 more. Thank you so much to everybody who has given their support to this cause. I really do appreciate it but as I said earlier it's not over yet.
Special Thanks to Dr. Foster Phillips, MD. practicing in New Britain Connecticut and to the Children's Eye Care Clinic in Farmington Connecticut. Because of your generous donations, I am extremely close to my goal. Thanks so much and your efforts are greatly appreciated!
Hey guys check out the "About Adapted Sports" page and learn all about Adapted track and field as well as tandem biking. It shows you what we actually do at Camp and what this website is all about.
On another note, people have been asking me if they could sign up a Counselor at Camp Abilities Alaska. The answer is SURE anybody can sign up. It might be too late for this summer but you can definitely sign up for next summer and if you do be prepared to work really hard on fundraising. To be sure you get the money for your flight you need to spend some time writing letters working online etc. However I expect that the experiences that you will get are worth the time. Hi everybody, Right now my fundraising is slowing down. However I am in the process of contacting the Lion's Club and the Rotary Club here in New Britain, CT so it should pick up once I get in contact with them. I again thank everyone for their continuous support. I really do appreciate it. In the mean time there is a great video on YouTibe about Camp Abilities Ireland. Yes that's right, Ireland. It just goes to show that we have Camps all over the world. it is comforting to see children who are blind being serviced in other nations as well as our own. Check it out! Hey guys there are some awesome videos out there about what Camp Abilities does for the community and the people in it. I just put up a new video on my website http://tryingtogettocampabilities.weebly.com/about-camp-abilities.html. This video is from last summer's Camp Abilities at the University of Brockport, New York. This camp is a direct model of Camp Abilities Alaska and we will be doing many of the activities in the video. See below. Hey everybody I now have just over $500.00 so I'm definitely on my way. However I just checked up on flights to Anchorage and they have gone up significantly. The lowest being over $900.00 so I might have more work to do than I thought. Thanks to everybody who has been supporting me and be sure to continue checking the website for more information on my trip.
