A Loss of Sight
NEVER
A Loss of Vision
Welcome Hi, My name is Cody Laplante. I am a senior in high school, ready to make the leap to college and I have decided to make a career out of teaching those who are visually impaired and blind. As someone who is visually impaired, I feel a deep connection with those who are blind. To expand my knowledge in the field, I am planning to be a volunteer counselor during the summer of 2012 at a camp for blind and visually impaired students called Camp Abilities Alaska. I attended this Camp this past year and found it to be a challenging, yet rewarding experience that will help me build a successful career. Camp Abilities is a program that encourages and engages students who are visually impaired in adapted sports and physical activities. As a volunteer counselor I will play a large part in this program through student instruction and helping with daily activitiies.
I have several years of experience working in similar programs, and this will add to my opportunities in the field of teaching visually impaired and blind children. This website has alot of useful information about myself about Camp Abilities and what I will contribute as a volunteer counselor. Attending this camp was a great experience for me as a future teacher and I believe that I helped many children who have vision impairments. However, as with any job, it is never over. There is so much more for me to learn and there is so many other children that could use the help. If you would like to help sponsor me please click on the donate button. This year my goal is to raise about $650. The money will be used to pay for my flights and expenses while in Alaska. Thank you for your time and feel free to explore the website. |
